On Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at approximately 1 p.m., Toms RIver police units were dispatched to 2338 Route 9 for a reported vehicle into a building.
The initial investigation revealed that while attempting to make a left turn onto Route 9, Anthony Marino accelerated and traveled across the highway and onto the property striking a support wire, a street sign, a light post and then struck the bank before coming to rest in the bank lobby, police said.
Marino was uninjured in the collision, police said. He was issued a summons for careless driving.
A witness was struck by debris and suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.
The building was deemed structurally safe by the Toms River Township building inspector.
The accident is under investigation by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer, Corporal Robert Westfall.
